Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine available to certain groups

From Dec 1st Meningococcal ACWY vaccine is available for those aged 13-24 years who are living

 in their first year in 

boarding school, hostels, tertiary halls of residence or military barracks, or entering within the next 3 months. 

It is also important to consider Meningococcal B vaccines (non -funded) which is the cause of around 50% of cases. Cost is 2 doses at $150 each. Talk to the Nurses.   See :

Priorities for MMR vaccines are:- Children 15 months and 4 yrs to have vaccines on time - Under 15 yrs who have had no MMR's - Babies 6 -14 months travelling to Auckland or anywhere overseas where there is an outbreak -Unimmunised people under the age of 50 travelling to Samoa, Tonga, Philippines or Fiji -Susceptible close contacts of a confirmed measles case within 72 hours of first exposure

Current MMR Priority groups within the Wellington region have been updated. The existing groups cover children’s vaccinations (15 month and 4 years), opportunistic vaccination for those aged 5-15 years, and babies going to Auckland and other countries experiencing measles outbreaks. Which are Samoa, Pacific Islands and the Philippines.

Due to limited MMR vaccine stocks we are prioritising "on time" childhood vaccination.

We are currently only vaccinating:

  • Children at 15 months and 4 years of age

If you would like to know the immunisation status of your children up to the age of 14 years, please email  NIR@compasshealth.org.nz

Advice for adults is to postpone MMR immunisations for 4-6 weeks.   

Update around Measles vaccine stock

Currently we have no MMR vaccines available
Our priority is under 5 year olds at present. We will restart vaccinating this group when we have stock.
